Dhāl (ذ) is the eighth letter of the Arabic alphabet. It is a consonant sound that is pronounced by placing the tip of the tongue against the upper teeth and emitting a voiced, buzzing sound. In modern standard Arabic, it is pronounced as a voiced dental fricative sound.

The letter Dhāl is written in the Arabic script as a short vertical stroke with a small loop or tail at the top. It is written from right to left, like all Arabic letters.
