Dāl (د) is the fourth letter of the Arabic alphabet. It is a consonant sound that is pronounced by touching the tip of the tongue to the roof of the mouth and releasing it to produce a light, fluttering sound. In modern standard Arabic, it is pronounced as a voiceless dental stop sound.

The letter Dāl is written in the Arabic script as a short vertical stroke with a small curve at the top. It is written from right to left, like all Arabic letters.

Dāl is used in a variety of words in Arabic, including nouns, verbs, and adjectives. It is an essential letter for the correct pronunciation of many Arabic words. In Arabic calligraphy, the letter Dāl is often used as a starting point for many different calligraphic styles and can be seen in many beautiful examples of Arabic calligraphy art.
